It’s so refreshing to have news about Spider-Man movies again isn’t it? First Marvel confirmed that Tom Holland will play Spider-Man and recently it was reported that Marvel has offered Marisa Tomei the role of Aunt May. You could certainly say that Spider-Man is all the rage right now.
In any case, IGN recently caught up with Marvel Entertainment’s Chief Creative Officer, Joe Quesada at Comic Con where he talked a little bit about what we can expect from the upcoming Spider-Man film. When asked about Spidey’s suit, Joe seemed quite excited about it.
“I’ve seen a lot of design work that’s been done on the costume. I think there are elements of it that are really going to blow people away, where they’re gonna go, ‘Oh, that’s Marvel doing Spider-Man!” Joe said.
Quesada wouldn’t reveal much beyond that saying “Things will be revealed when they’re meant to be revealed.” He went on to express his excitement about having Spider-Man in the MCU mentioning that Spider-Man is an icon.
When asked about the Netflix shows he acknowledged that the shows will deal with street level issues.
“The Avengers are about saving the world, Daredevil and Jessica Jones, they’re about saving a neighborhood. They’re about saving the block, they’re about saving an apartment complex. So it’s smaller but the stakes still feel the same because they’re just as important to the people living in Hell’s Kitchen.”
One way or another it’s hard to deny that Marvel is on the top of their game right now. They’ve reshaped the idea of what filmmaking can be and they’re gradually doing the same thing with television. Joe’s comments about Spider-Man’s suit are certainly encouraging as well and give fans more reason to get excited about Spidey in the MCU.
