“Thor: Ragnarok” hit theaters last week and the film introduced several huge changes for Thor which will carry over into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’re going to be talking all about it, but just a fair warning, if you haven’t seen the film, this post does contain spoilers.
Thor was stripped of many things that make him Thor in the film. He no longer has his hammer, or his long hair, and during a battle with Hela, he lost an eye.
At the end of “Thor: Ragnarok” the God of Thunder was seen sporting an eye patch, and Chris Hemsworth has confirmed that he will be wearing the eye patch when “Avengers: Infinity War” arrives in theaters next year.
“Yeah we carry it into the film with the eye patch you see in this film,” Hemsworth told Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview.
In the MCU anything is possible, meaning Thor’s eye could have magically been repaired somehow, but it appears that this is a permanent change for the character.
“That kind of just evolved just throughout the script process, to just keep stripping that character down, having him lose the hammer and all those things and to kind of create a broken version of the character. At the end, he sort of becomes a refugee,” director Taika Waititi added.
