There was a lot of hype behind “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” leading up to the release date as fans had waited a long time to see the two heroes go toe to toe on the big screen. But even though the film did very well at the box office, it was met with mixed reviews.
The film was quite dark, and even though some people enjoyed the darker tone, it wasn’t embraced by everyone. During a recent interview with Empire, Ben Affleck addressed the criticism and said that he thinks it’s fair.
“I can understand people saying [Batman v Superman] was too dark, or this was outside the tone of what I’m used to seeing with a Batman story, and I think that’s a fair criticism,” Affleck said.
The next film in the DCEU is “Justice League” and it sounds like fans don’t have to worry about it being overly dark, because “Wonder Woman” star Gal Gadot noted that it will be different from “Batman v Superman.”
“Justice League is not a dark or heavy movie,” Gadot said. “It doesn’t have the weight that Batman v Superman had.”
“Justice League” will arrive in theaters on November 17, 2017.
