X-Men movies seem to be hit or miss these days as “X-Men: Days of Future Past” was released to praise from fans and critics alike a few years ago, but in 2016 “X-Men: Apocalypse” underwhelmed audiences.
Next year the franchise will be returning as it tries to tackle one of the most iconic X-Men story arcs with “X-Men: Dark Phoenix.” The “Dark Phoenix” story is a lot to fit into one movie, so it will be interesting to see where the franchise goes after the film is released.
Olivia Munn played Psylocke in “Apocalypse” and during a recent interview with Collider she was asked if she’s currently working on “Dark Phoenix.” Munn stayed tight lipped for the most part, but her comments seem to suggest that the film could be split into two parts.
“I don’t know what I’m supposed to say. I’m supposed to be vague. That’s my answer. I’m horrible at that. It’s like a two parter, this movie. That’s more than I’ve said, in general. I don’t know why people have to be so secretive.”
It’s unclear if she means that there will be two separate films, but with “New Mutants,” “Deadpool 2” and “Dark Phoenix” it’s clear that Fox has big plans for the X-Men universe in 2018.
“X-Men: Dark Phoenix” will arrive in theaters on November 2, 2018.
