Last year the heroes of the “Arrowverse” teamed up with Supergirl to take on the Dominators in the epic “Invasion!” crossover, and this year they’ll be teaming up once again for four nights of action.
All of the respective “Arrowverse” related shows will be returning in October, and the crossover will kick off with “Supergirl” on Monday, November 27. Deadline reports that the announcement was made at today’s TCA.
When “Arrow” returns for season 6, it will be moving from Wednesday to Thursday, but the report notes that the “Arrow” crossover episode will also air on Monday, November 27 with “Supergirl” as a one time thing.
This means that the crossover will play out over the course of two nights unlike last year where it unfolded over four nights.
CW President Mark Pedowitz noted that they’re approaching the crossover this year as if it’s two two hour movies.
“Last year’s (crossover) was the most successful week in CW history in terms of ratings and everything. We felt in this particular case we had Flash on Legends paired, so it was better to make it two two-hour movies – a miniseries – we thought this was the best way to go. We had a lot of conversations with producers and marketing people. Next year, we might go back to four nights.”
The villain, or villains for this year’s crossover have yet to be confirmed, but recently at San Diego Comic Con, “Arrow” showrunner Wendy Mericle teased that it will be based on a DC story fans already know.
“I can’t tell you that’s gonna happen. I’m just gonna say the crossover is going to be super cool this year, and it’s gonna be pulled from a very cool DC story, that the fans are gonna know about. When they hear it they’re gonna be very excited. Every year we have to get bigger and better, and this one I think will not disappoint.”
