“Arrow” is set to return for season 5 tonight, but producer Wendy Mericle is already talking about season 6. Fans of “Arrow” know that season 5 is pivotal for the show, because the series was originally conceived as a 5 year story. It’s already been confirmed that season 5 will mark the end of the traditional island-style flashbacks, meaning that aspect of the show will be changed.

It will be interesting to see where the show goes next year, and according to producer Wendy Mericle “Arrow” fans can expect the show to be reinvented in season 6.

“What’s interesting about Season 5, just having been there from the beginning and knowing Marc [Guggenheim] and Andrew [Kreisberg] and Greg [Berlanti] as well as I do, the show was conceived in many ways as a five-year thing,” Wendy Mericle revealed to CBR. “Those flashbacks will be gone after this season. I think it is going to be a different… not a different show, but it is going to have to be reinvented in Season Six, because we’re closing a chapter for sure.”

“Arrow” returns tonight on the CW with the season 5 premiere titled “Legacy.”
