Over the past 10 years the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become one of the most successful franchises in movie history, but there are many fans who feel that the MCU is incomplete.

Unfortunately the MCU doesn’t include the X-Men or the Fantastic Four because Fox currently owns the rights to those characters, but that could change.

It was recently reported that Disney is in talks with Fox to acquire their TV and film studios, and if that happens it would likely open the door for the X-Men to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Whether or not it’s going to happen remains to be seen, but it appears that talks are heating up.

Fans aren’t the only ones who want to see the X-Men on the big screen with The Avengers. X-Men producer Laura Shuler Donner recently spoke to Vanity Fair, and she made it clear that she’s on board with the idea of bringing everyone together.

“Well, I wish. I would love it, I would love it. But it’s not for me to say.”

Unfortunately Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige also made it clear that at this point in time there hasn’t been any movement in that direction.

“Well, the problem is whenever I say anything about it, it becomes 15 headlines. So would we like to? Yeah, of course. Is there any movement toward it at all? No. Same thing. Same status.”

Of course with Disney making a play for Fox, the situation could very well change as it’s being said that Disney is “speedily progressing toward the rumored acquisition of Fox.”

Stay tuned.
