A few weeks ago a hot rumor hit the internet when it was reported that Disney and Fox had been negotiating a potential deal which would see Disney acquire most of Fox. However, it was noted that the talks had been off and on, but now it appears that they’re picking up steam again.
Deadline is reporting that, “Disney is progressing speedily toward that rumored acquisition of Fox.” According to the report, if the deal happens it will see Fox retain their news and sports properties, with Disney taking the rest of the TV and film studio.
It was noted that Disney kept things very quiet when they made deals with Lucasfilm and Marvel, so if the deal does get done the public will likely only know for sure once it’s announced.
It was also noted that the possible deal has not been met with enthusiasm in Hollywood because it could potentially reduce the number of major studios.
So far neither Disney nor Fox have commented on the reports of negotiations between the two parties. But it seems that Fox is looking to sell, as it was also recently reported that Sony, Verizon and Comcast are all interested in possibly acquiring the TV and film studios.
