Last year the heroes of the “Arrowverse” came together to battle the Dominators in an epic four way crossover event, and many fans have wondered how the writers can top the “Invasion” crossover. It’s pretty hard to top the Dominators, but it sounds like the next crossover will be approached in a very different way.
At the TCA press tour, it was teased that “romance is in the air” for the big crossover event. When asked what exactly that means, “The Flash” executive producer Greg Berlanti told IGN that the crossover will go bigger this year by getting more personal.
“Our way of making the show bigger this year was to go even more personal, so it’s a big life event for a few different people on the show.”
When asked if that means we’ll be seeing a wedding, Berlanti responded by saying, “There are many life events that happen.”
It should be interesting to see what that means, as there are two potential weddings on the table. At one point Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak were engaged, but they called their engagement off after they hit a rough patch in their relationship, but if Felicity survives all signs point to the couple getting back together at some point.
Barry Allen and Iris West are also engaged, but their wedding plans hit a bit of a road block when Barry sacrificed himself to the speed force.
Regardless of who does or doesn’t get married, the hype behind the next crossover is getting stronger with each passing day.
This year the crossover will take place across two nights instead of four, and CW President Mark Pedowitz noted that it will play out like two big movies.
“Last year’s (crossover) was the most successful week in CW history in terms of ratings and everything. We felt in this particular case we had Flash on Legends paired, so it was better to make it two two-hour movies – a miniseries – we thought this was the best way to go. We had a lot of conversations with producers and marketing people. Next year, we might go back to four nights.”
The annual “Arrowverse” crossover will kick off on November 27.
