“Arrow” season 5 has wrapped up, and the conclusion was truly the end of an era for the show. The series came full circle in the final moments of the finale, and now the show will redefine its identity in some respects when season 6 premieres.
One of the things the showrunners, producers and writers had been saying leading up to the season 5 finale is that the flashbacks would finally be coming to an end. Executive producer Marc Guggenheim talked to Access Hollywood about the flashbacks, and he made it clear that he was relieved once they put them to rest.
“We were in the room yesterday and we were going through the flashbacks and we got to the final beat of the flashbacks, I turned to all the writers and said ‘Oh my God, we’re done.'”
However, he did note that the season 6 premiere, will contain a flashback sequence that will take the story back to Lian Yu.
“If you take me literally at my word, yes, back to the island.”
A Lian Yu flashback seems to make sense considering the fact that we don’t know where the show will pick up, and it’s possible that there will be a time jump, with a flashback to the end of the season 5 finale to explain who actually survived the ending.
We’ll find out in the fall, but for anyone out there who’s been waiting for the flashbacks to end, sorry, it looks like you’re going to have to wait a little bit longer.
