Cable and Domino have already been confirmed for the film, and it’s been rumored for a while now that FOX has plans to put together a X-Force film. Well, during an interview with Collider, writer Rhett Reese confirmed that we’ll be seeing a glimpse of what’s to come in “Deadpool 2.”

“There is a responsibility we have to the X-Force universe, and I do think we will not disappoint the fans going into Deadpool 2 and then setting up X-Force and beyond.”

Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick made it a point to stress that “Deadpool 2” will still very much be a Deadpool, and its sole purpose won’t be to just set up X-Force. However, they also noted that they want to plant seeds without overstuffing the movie.

“We never want to let the tail wag the dog,” Paul Wernick added. “We want to tell the best Deadpool story we can. But I do think we have a responsibility to think about a larger universe in the way that Marvel does and start to put pieces in place.”

“Deadpool 2” is expected to be released in 2018.

But “Deadpool” is a special case and what worked for that movie isn’t likely to work for every comic book film moving forward. However there are certain properties that a R rating could work for and X-Force might just be one of them.

During a recent Q & A with Collider, producer Simon Kinberg says that he could see X-Force possibly getting a R rated film in the future.

“I think there are some stories that could be R-rated. I don’t know what they are, I mean I think the mainline X-Men movies have their own tone, which is a more operatic tone. It’s more dramatic, it is more PG-13 in a way. X-Force I could see being R-rated, and who knows?” Kinberg said.

Just keep in mind he said the film could have a R rating and not that it would. Talk about a possible X-Force film has really intensified over the past few weeks as Ryan Reynolds has said he’s making the movie a big priority.

“There’s so much material to mine in just the X-Men universe. In the future, if we’re doing a bunch more ‘Deadpool’ movies, we’re really going to explore the X-Men a lot. We’ll see. And maybe X-Force, X-Force is my priority. I really want to get that in.” Reynolds recently told FILMSTARTS.

Ryan Reynolds isn’t the only one involved with “Deadpool” that’s been talking about a possible X-Force movie either. HeyUGuys recently spoke to “Deadpool” writers Rhett Resse and Paul Wernick and they too echoed Reynolds’ interest about a possible X-Force movie. According to them it’s something they would love to do.

“Absolutely. Getting in to more of an ensemble piece is something we would cherish. X-Force is beloved and we love it, and Deadpool is centric to that world, and we’d love to bring an X-Force movie into the X Universe.” Wernick said.

With the massive success of “Deadpool” at the box office and this many people talking about making it happen, it’s looking more and more likely that the dream of a X-Force film is going to become a reality.

Although Deadpool does exist in the same universe as the X-Men movies, Ryan Reynolds has said that Deadpool is still very much its own thing. When asked about how the “Days of Future Past” timeline might affect Deadpool’s movie, Reynolds said that Deadpool is not affected.

“If it were Deadpool, he could tell ‘Days of Future Past’ to take its timeline and go f*ck itself. We make fun of the timelines in the movie. But Deadpool is not affected by that at all. Deadpool, I think, is just his own thing. His own universe. Anytime the other X-Men interact with Deadpool and his universe, they do so at their own risk and peril.” Reynolds added.

“Deadpool” hits theaters on February 12, 2016.
