]]> “Logan” is set to hit theaters next year, and the film’s release will be bittersweet for fans. On one hand, fans get to see Hugh Jackman reprise his role as Wolverine, but unfortunately, he will be reprising the role for the last time.

The third Wolverine film takes place in the year 2024, where the mutant population has declined in a big way. Logan is aging, and his healing powers are deteriorating. The once great mind of Professor X is also deteriorating, which leads Logan to take care of him, but Professor X won’t be the only one that he’s taking care of in the movie.

“Logan” will also introduce X-23, a young girl with powers similar to Wolverine. Fox has released a new banner promoting the film, and it shows Logan carrying X-23 as he’s running. Check it out below.

“Logan” hits theaters on March 3, 2017.

“In 2024, mutant births are severely in decline, and people aren’t sure why. A government-type operation is turning mutant children into killing machines. From this, Logan emerges as a mentor to a mutant girl, who has two claws instead of his three.”

]]> Hugh Jackman is getting ready to play Wolverine one last time in “Wolverine 3” and then he’ll be hanging up the claws for good. Patrick Stewart’s Professor X has already been confirmed for the film but rumor has it that another X-Men character could be making her big screen debut in the film.

SuperHeroHype is reporting that they’ve been told the film will feature the debut of X-23 and she’ll be teaming with Wolverine and Professor X. Please keep in mind that the report mentions that this is an unconfirmed rumor.

It’s also worth noting that ComicBook.com reported earlier this week that a casting call for the film has been issued and they’re looking for a, “Caucasian, Hispanic, and Asian-looking females” but this time children, age 6-13, at a similar height of 4’2″-4’5.” That description certainly seems to line up with X-23’s attributes.

Laura Kinney, better known as X-23 made her debut in the “X-Men: Evolution” TV series and she was introduced into the comic book universe in 2004. She is a clone of Wolverine and she also shares his abilities such as enhanced strength, agility and his mutant healing factor. Kinney also has adamantium claws similar to Wolverine.

“Wolverine 3” currently has a release date of March 3, 2017 and production will begin in May. If this rumor about X-23 is true it’s likely that a casting announcement will be made in the near future.
