It’s already been confirmed that “Arrow” will be picking up five months after the huge cliffhanger that took place in the season 5 finale, and “The Flash” will be picking up six months after the season 3 finale. So, will DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow” be following the trend?

Of course not. The Legends like to do their own thing, and they live by their own rules. In the season 2 finale of DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow” the team broke time. The Legends will have to deal with the consequences of their actions as soon as the show returns, because Heroic Hollywood is reporting that the season 3 premiere will pick up right where the finale left off.

That means the Legends are going to have to deal with the dinosaurs in the broken timeline that they’ve created.

Dinosaurs won’t be the only problem that the team will have to deal with in season 3, because Rip Hunter will not be a part of the team this time. Rip will be forming a new version of the Time Masters called the Time Bureau, and although it’s been confirmed that we won’t be seeing an evil Rip this time around, it sounds like he’ll be getting in the way of the Legends throughout the season.

DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow” will return for season 3 on Tuesday, October 10.

After the defeat of Eobard Thawne and his equally nefarious Legion of Doom, the Legends face a new threat created by their actions at the end of last season. In revisiting a moment in time that they had already participated in, they have essentially fractured the timeline and created anachronisms – a scattering of people, animals, and objects all across time! Our team must find a way to return all the anachronisms to their original timelines before the time stream falls apart. But before our Legends can jump back into action, Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) and his newly established Time Bureau call their methods into question.

With the Time Bureau effectively the new sheriffs in town, the Legends disband – until Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell) discovers one of them in the middle of his well-deserved vacation in Aruba. Seeing this as an opportunity to continue their time traveling heroics, Sara (Caity Lotz) wastes no time in getting the Legends back together. We reunite with billionaire inventor Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), the unconventional historian-turned-superhero Nick Heywood (Nick Zano), and Professor Martin Stein (Victor Garber) and Jefferson “Jax” Jackson (Franz Drameh), who together form the meta-human Firestorm.

Once reunited, the Legends will challenge the Time Bureau’s authority over the timeline and insist that however messy their methods may be, some problems are beyond the Bureau’s capabilities. Some problems can only be fixed by Legends.

However, the Legends still have a lot of work to do when it comes to Rip Hunter, and next week they’ll be trying to rescue him from Reverse-Flash, Damien Darhk and Malcolm Merlyn in “Legion of Doom.”

TAKING RISKS — The Legends are determined to find and rescue Rip (Arthur Darvill), but first must focus on locating the Spear of Destiny. Stein (Victor Garber) thinks he has the perfect person to help but knows involving her will be risky. Meanwhile, Malcom Merlyn (guest star John Barrowman) and Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough) realize that Thawne (guest star Matt Letscher) is pitting them against each other. Caity Lotz, Brandon Routh, Dominic Purcell, Nick Zano, Franz Drameh and Maisie Richardson-Sellers also star. Eric Laneuville directed the episode written by Phil Klemmer & Marc Guggenheim.

All season long fans have been wondering what happened to Rip Hunter and at the end of the midseason finale we got some answers, but those answers left us asking more questions. Rip is now a film student and he has no memories of his past. When the show returns it will focus on Rip Hunter, and we’ll also be seeing an appearance from a youn George Lucas played by Matt Angel. LOST MEMORIES — When Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough) and Malcolm Merlyn (guest star John Barrowman) try to capture Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) in 1967, they create an Aberration big enough to draw the attention of the Legends. However, when the team arrives they discover that Rip has no memories of his past due to “time drift” and is just a graduate film student. After trying to convince Rip of who he was, they discover that he possesses an incredibly powerful artifact known as the Spear of Destiny, which the Legion of Doom is after. Ray (Bradon Routh) and Nate (Nick Zano) realize that the Aberration has also affected them personally making it difficult to help the team. Meanwhile, Rory (Dominic Purcell) asks Stein (Victor Garber) for help and makes him promise to keep it a secret from the team. Caity Lotz, Franz Drameh and Maisie Richardson-Sellers also star. Dermott Downs directed the episode written by Keto Shimizu & Chris Fedak.

DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow” will return on Tuesday, January 24.
