]]> Olivia Munn will be making her debut as Psylocke in “X-Men: Apocalypse” but according to writer/producer Simon Kinberg, Psylocke wasn’t part of the original script for the film. Obviously things changed because Psylocke plays a very important role in the film as she’s one of the Four Horsemen. Kinberg told CinemaBlend that before Psylocke came into the fold the plan was for Professor X to sit in as a member of the Four Horsemen.

“The one person we didn’t know was Psylocke, and the reason why is because originally in the script we sort of… I don’t know why we made this decision, but we knew that Professor X was abducted in the middle of the movie, and we thought that almost counted as a fourth Horseman. And so that’s the way we constructed the original draft of the script. There wasn’t going to be a fourth one. The ‘surprise’ was that Xavier was the fourth Horseman. And then when we were working on the script, Bryan and I at one particular point – pretty late in the process – said, ‘He’s not really a Horseman – he’s not doing anything in the third act of the movie.’”

After deciding against using Professor X Simon Kinberg and Bryan Singer then decided on Psylocke. It was then that Kinberg thought of Olivia Munn who he had already met when she turned the role of Vanessa in “Deadpool.” He says that after they thought of Olivia Munn they googled her and found soe fan art which featured Munn as Psylocke and they were sold.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” hits theaters on May 27.

]]> Olivia Munn is making her debut as Psylocke when “X-Men: Apocalypse” premieres in May and no one seems more excited about it than her. Out of all the new actors that joined the cast for the film, Munn has undoubtedly shown the most enthusiasm regarding her role. She’s been posting training videos and sharing photos from the set constantly. It’s been great.

Olivia Munn recently spoke to cNet about why she connects with Psylocke so much and that’s when she started to gush over the character.

“I’ve loved Psylocke for so long. She’s a really, really strong badass female character in this comic book world where a lot of times the women don’t get to be strong and badass. You see a lot of superheroes [who] don’t always want to kill, and they’ll avoid it if they can. She’s never had a problem killing, and I like that she was the bad guy that had no problem being the bad guy. She’s telekinetic and telepathic so she can read your mind. She can create anything with her mind. To win any fights, she can just create a mountain and have it fall down on you, but she chooses to create a sword so she can kill up close and personal. I always thought that was really cool and badass.” Munn said.

]]> The stars were out on the red carpet at the Academy Awards last night and MTV caught up with quite a few of them. One of which was Olivia Munn who is playing Psylocke in the next X-Men film titled “X-Men: Apocalypse.”

Munn was asked about the recent success of “Deadpool” and if R-rated movies could work for the X-Men franchise.

“What happened with ‘Deadpool’ is it’s a combination of Ryan being so amazing and the writer and the director and everybody. So for anything to be successful it has to be the perfect storm. You hope for the perfect storm all the time right?”

Hollywood seems to very interested in R-rated comic book movies following the big box office haul “Deadpool” has brought in. X-Men producer Simon Kinberg has talked a little bit about X-Force possibly getting an R-rated film, and the next Wolverine movie is rumored to be shooting for an R-rated movie as well.

As far as what’s next for Psylocke beyond “Apocalypse” Munn said that she didn’t know. She added that she was just focusing on making sure Psylocke came off as strong as possible in this film.

One thing’s for sure, the costume looks like it was pulled straight from the pages of a comic book. For all of the flack that fans have been giving the Apocalypse costume the Psylocke costume certainly doesn’t seem to be getting enough credit.

]]> Olivia Munn is set to play Psylocke in “X-Men: Apocalypse” which comes out this May. Ever since news of her casting has been announced Munn has been very enthusiastic about taking on the role. She’s been posting teaser photos and clips of her training to show that she’s the real deal. Munn recently spoke to USA Today and she revealed that she trained for up to 6 to 7 hours a day so that she would look legit on the big screen.

“I started training, doing 6/7 hours a day of sword and tae kwon do, never picked up a sword before. But it’s really important to me that Psylocke was as believable as possible and that meant to me that I had to really know what I was doing and be strong. And since this is the introduction to the character in the X-Men world, the fight scene, for me, was the monologue. It meant everything to me to be able to do it.” Munn said.

Olivia Munn also spoke to ET at the Sci-Tech Awards where she told them that she did all of her own stunts in the film.

“Psylocke is such a powerful, lethal character. It was important to me that I was able to do all of the stunts because the more believable it is, the better it is for the audience — and the only way to make it believable is for me to actually do it.” Olivia Munn added.

One thing’s for sure, Olivia Munn definitely seems dedicated when it comes to playing the role of Psylocke. We’ll see if all that hard work and dedication pays off when “X-Men: Apocalypse” hits theaters on May 27, 2016.

]]> Olivia Munn is thrilled about the fact that she gets to play Psylocke in “X-Men: Apocalypse” and her enthusiasm is contagious. The more she talks about it, the more we can’t wait to see it.

Munn recently spoke to Collider about Psylocke’s role in the film, what powers she will have and more. During the interview Munn revealed that in the film we will see Psylocke use her telekinetic powers, but we won’t see her use her telepathic powers.

“Psylocke is telepathic and telekinetic. In the movie, we see her being a telekinetic. We don’t see her being telepathic. It’s a decision [we made] because this is the first time we’ve really been able to see the character of Psylocke and have her really, truly exist in the movie. I talked about it with Simon Kinberg. There’s just so much going on, especially with Apocalypse’s power, and then trying to take on all of the X-Men. When you are telepathic, I feel that it’s a power that you want to hold close to your chest. It’s a card that you don’t want a lot of people to know about because it’s so much more powerful when people don’t know that you have this power.”

She also noted that Psylocke will be using both a physical sword and a psychic sword in the film. She says that the suggestion to make the move was made by James McAvoy and that she thought the idea was awesome.

Of course the X-Men film world isn’t just confined for the X-Men films anymore. Wolverine has had two solo films, Deadpool is getting his own film next week and Gambit has a solo film on the way. Should Psylocke ever get the chance to break off on her own, Munn already has an idea for a spin off.

“I think if Psylocke had a chance to tell her story, it would be great to start with the genesis and have an understanding … I think maybe like right as she’s getting out of university and before her whole family—we jump in right before all of her family is taken out and we have an understanding of what she had to lose. Then her figuring out her powers and how powerful she is. I think that would be a great thing to, because it’s something that I always loved about her. That she came from a good family and lost everything. Yeah, I would just like to tell that story.” Olivia Munn said.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” hits theaters on May 27, 2016.

]]> Olivia Munn held an entertaining Q & A session on her Twitter page earlier and she answered a few interesting questions about her “X-Men: Apocalypse” character Psylocke. When asked if Psylocke would be using her psychic weapons in the film Olivia Munn confirmed that she would and also shared a new photo which you can check out below.

A fan also asked Munn if Psylocke would be speaking with an English accent in the film but she confirmed that she wouldn’t be.

When asked what super power she would want to have other than Psylocke’s Munn revealed that she would love to have Angel’s power so she could fly.

When asked who she thinks would win in a fight Psylocke or Wolverine, she picked Psylocke. But we have a feeling she might be a little biased.

Of course it would be wrong not to point out the fact that Olivia showed some real dedication to her fans but putting a shoe on her head when she was asked “Put shoe on head?”
