When asked by a fan what he thinks of Tom Holland he said “I think @TomHolland1996 is the best Spider/Peter Parker by a country mile.”

That’s some pretty high praise right there, but he took things one step further when he said that Holland is to Spider-Man what Robert Downey Jr. is to Iron Man.

It’s no joke when the director of “Guardians of the Galaxy” compares Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to Robert Downey Jr. in the role of Iron Man. And it’s certainly no joke when he puts it on the same level as Heath Ledger’s marvelous performance as The Joker in “The Dark Knight.”

Tom Holland will be the third actor to play Peter Parker on the big screen. Tobey MaGuire of course brought Spider-Man to life in three separate movies directed by Sam Raimi. Andrew Garfield then stepped into the role in 2012 and he went on to play Spider-Man in two separate movies before Sony struck a deal with Marvel and decided to recast.

This time around Spider-Man will be joining the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time. Fans have been dying to know what it would be like to see Spidey interact with characters such as Captain America and Iron Man on the big screen and we won’t have to wait much longer to find out.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will be making his official debut in the MCU when “Captain America: Civil War” premieres in theaters on May 6, 2016. You can check out the latest trailer from the film which features Holland’s first appearance as Spider-Man below.
