True that Disney & Lucasfilm wanted someone big for HAN SOLO…before Woody Harrelson, CHRISTIAN BALE was the other big name in the mix.

The Han Solo spinoff film will take place prior to “A New Hope” and Alden Ehrenreich will star as the main character. He’ll be joined by Donald Glover who will be playing Lando Calrissian, and Emilia Clarke who will be playing an unnamed love interest in the film.

As of right now the release date for the film is set to be May 25, 2018, but a recent report from Making Star Wars notes that their sources in the theater industry have received a December 13, 2018 release date for a Star Wars film. With that being said, it’s rumored that the film’s release date could get pushed back, but once again that’s just a rumor and far from confirmed at this point.

It certainly wouldn’t be surprising to see the film get pushed back to December, as Disney has had good luck in the month of December with “Rogue One” and “The Force Awakens,” and surely “Episode VIII” will be another success story when it’s released in December later this year.

StarWars.com confirmed the casting on Friday, but as of right now it’s not yet known who she will be playing in the film. The Han Solo standalone film will follow “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” as another film that breaks away from the Skywalker saga, and explores the broader Star Wars universe.

The film will be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

Of course no Han Solo film would be complete without his trusty companion Chewbacca, and Han Solo himself Alden Ehrenreich recently confirmed to Variety that Chewbacca will be a part of the film.

“I think he’s going to be great in the role because he’s such a talented and interesting guy. And I can say that Chewbacca’s in the film, although I know that’s not a huge spoiler.”

The yet to be titled Han Solo standalone film is set to be released in the year 2018. The next Star Wars film “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” will hit theaters in December.

In between “Jedi” and “Force” Han and Leia had a son, named Ben, who later defected to the Dark Side and became Kylo Ren. Surely Ben’s transformation put a strain on the relationship, but we never really got a clear answer as to why Han and Leia split up.

Last weekend Carrie Fisher spoke about Han and Leia’s relationship at the The Saskatoon Comic & Entertainer Expo, and Fisher shared her take on why things didn’t work out.

“He smuggled way too much. And girls, I know you don’t want your husband smuggling, do you? [And] hanging out with the hairy guy too often. I think there are a lot of problems with that. He wouldn’t take me on that hyperspace thing enough… [that’s a] euphemism.”

Carrie Fisher is one of a kind, that’s for sure, and you can see her on the big screen once again when “Episode VIII” hits theaters in December of 2017.

The search had been narrowed down to Alden, Taron Egerton and Jack Reynor, but Alden is now the favorite after he put on an impressive performance during recent screen tests. Alden Ehrenreich is 26 years old and he was considered to be one of the breakout performers in “Hail, Caesar!” last year.

The Han Solo standalone film is currently set for a 2018 release date and it’s being directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The movie will focus on Han Solo’s early days before he got wrapped up in the Skywalker family drama.

Disney has yet to comment on any rumors regarding a possible casting for the role. Harrison Ford has vacated the role but now that Disney has opened up the timeline, it sounds like they have big plans for Han Solo in the future.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has narrowed the list down to a few specific names. The report mentions that three actors tested for the role last week in London and those actors are, Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction), and Taron Edgerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service).

According to Justin Kroll of Variety also noted that Blake Jenner and Jack O’Connell are also on the shortlist.

THR also notes that the three actors they mentioned were picked from a list of 10 actors that tested for the role. Actors who were mentioned as having previously tested included Miles Teller and Ansel Elgort.

The untitled Han Solo film will be directed by Chris Lord and Phil Miller and it’s scheduled for a 2018 release.

Those of you that have seen “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” know that there was a big death in the film, a HUGE death. After making his fourth appearance in a Star Wars film so far, Han Solo was killed, but he wasn’t killed by just anyone. Han Solo was killed by his own son, Ben Solo a.k.a. Kylo Ren.

The murder of Han Solo at the hands of his own son was used to show that Kylo Ren is now fully committed to the dark side of the force. Of course fans were crushed to lose Han Solo as he’s been a beloved member of the Star Wars universe for quite some time. But most Star Wars fans are familiar with the fact that Harrison Ford urged George Lucas to kill Han Solo during the original trilogy. Lucas and Ford worked it all out and Solo survived, that is until “The Force Awakens.”

So how did Harrison Ford feel when he finally found out he was getting his wish? J.J. Abrams recently spoke to Fandango about Harrison Ford’s reaction and you can see what he had to say below:

“He was very thoughtful about it, and he got it. He understood why it was so powerful. And I think part of it was because Harrison himself — Han, the character — has so much ahead of him. Has so much life and fight and adventure — that this was the time to do that thing. If we felt like the character was sort of at the end of his days, it wouldn’t have been as powerful. The thing that made it potentially meaningful wasn’t just who does it and how it happened, but that it’s a character that is so vital that is meeting his demise. I’ll also say that Harrison’s always said that he knew that Han needed to have clear utility, and that’s what he wanted to do. And that’s why he argued back in the day that Han should die and George [Lucas] didn’t want to do it. And I don’t know what his utility in that regard would’ve been, though I’m sure Harrison would’ve come up with a clever pitch for it. But in this case there was such a clear utility — it’s about bringing this new villain to the fore, and there’s nothing I could think of that is more hideous than patricide, especially when it comes to Han Solo.”
