Deadline reports that David Goyer and Justin Rhodes have been tapped to write the script for the film, and the movie is being described as “Lethal Weapon” in space. Goyer is of course no stranger to DC films as he worked on “The Dark Knight”, “Man of Steel”, and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

The focus will be on Hal Jordan and John Stewart, and the story will focus on John Stewart’s relationship with Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps.

The report notes that it’s unclear as to whether or not Ryan Reynolds will be involved, but it seems unlikely considering his Green Lantern film was panned by fans and critics alike, and he has since found massive success playing Deadpool.

As far as casting goes, it’s been rumored for a while now that Armie Hammer could be playing Hal Jordan, and although Armie himself has spent plenty of time trolling fans on social media, nothing is confirmed at this point.

Tyrese hasn’t been shy about letting the world know that he would like a role in the Green Lantern film, as he’s shared several pieces of fan art on social media, and in 2015 he even went as far as to pitch Warner Bros. on the idea of casting him for the film. It remains to be seen if he’ll get the role, but he’s certainly more than willing.

When the cast of characters was first announced, many fans were disappointed to see that Green Lantern was not a part of the lineup. Although Green Lantern hasn’t been officially announced for the film, it looks like fans may be seeing an appearance from a member of the Green Lantern Corps. after all.

The Wrap is reporting that, “A member of the Green Lantern Corps. will be seen in “Justice League” in a key sequence.”

Warner Bros. has yet to make any casting announcements regarding which member of the Green Lantern Corps. will be appearing, and/or who will be playing the character. The studio has announced that a Green Lantern Corps. movie is scheduled to be released in 2020, but once again, no casting announcements have been made in regards to the film.

There are certainly some fan favorites out there in Hollywood who fans would like to see in the mix, but we’ll just have to wait and see how this all goes down.

“Justice League” is set to be released on November 17, 2017.

Over the years “Arrow” has dropped a few Green Lantern Easter Eggs along the way, and this year Carly Pope has joined the cast as Susan Williams. Many fans have been wondering if we’ll ever seen Green Lantern on the show, but producer Wendy Mericle recently shot down the hopes of fans around the world.

“One of the fun parts of the show is that you can put these characters in and the Easter eggs and the fans that know this universe so well respond to it on varying levels of excitement and whatnot, but the thing about her character that’s so intriguing is that it operates on that level. It also operates because she’s someone who’s very intrigued by Oliver, who’s going to uncover some secrets that Oliver has, which is going to be really fun, and is a fun nod to the Green Lantern, who obviously we could never bring on the show.”

It certainly doesn’t sound like we’ll be seeing Green Lantern anytime soon. However, looking toward the future, Mericle also acknowledged that most people probably assumed we would never see aliens on the show, and aliens will be a big part of the four part crossover.

“This is 100% true! I mean, really Season 6 and on, all bets are off, right?”

Green Lantern is without a doubt one of DC’s most popular characters, and fans have been waiting patiently for a live action adaptation of the character that’s worth watching. Warner Bros. failed to get a franchise off the ground with 2009’s “Green Lantern” but the studio will be taking another shot at it with the upcoming Green Lantern Corps movie that is currently scheduled for release in 2020.
