Conan teamed up with Elijah Wood to play “Final Fantasy XV” and it did not go well.

Anyone who’s ever played a Final Fantasy game before knows that the games are long, arduous and at times very slow. Final Fantasy games are an acquired taste so to speak, and apparently it’s not a taste that Conan enjoys.

Conan quickly finds out that “Final Fantasy XV” is not his type of game. He pretty much loses his mind while playing, and by the end of the video he accuses the game developers of being mass murderers of people’s time.

Fortunately for fans, the whole process of Conan losing his mind is pretty hilarious and you can see how it all goes down below.

“Final Fantasy VII” is one of the most popular video games of all time, thanks largely in part to its unique cast of characters.

Characters like Cloud, Sephiroth, Barrett, Tifa, Aerith, Red XIII and the rest of the cast really helped draw people into the world they were inhabiting while playing the game, and today one of the game’s most iconic characters is celebrating a birthday.

According to creator Tetsuya Nomura, today is the birthday of fictional character Cloud Strife and he wished Cloud a happy birthday as he posted an impressive sketch of the character on Twitter.

Nomura first created the sketch last year in honor of Cloud’s birthday and he’s posting it once again this year. Testuya Nomura has a special connection with Cloud as he played a big role in creating the original designs for the character.

Cloud Strife will return to prominence once again when the “Final Fantasy VII” remake is released. As of right now a release date has not been announced.

Of course fans that are familiar with the Final Fantasy franchise already know that one of the most important things when it comes to a Final Fantasy game is the cover art. The series has had some beautiful cover art over the years and “Final Fantasy XV” is keeping the tradition alive.

This time around things are a bit different with the cover art as fans will have more than one option. The game is set to come with a reversible cover featuring two different sides that will provide something for everyone.

One side shows off Noctis and his party getting ready for a battle, while the other is much simpler showing just the game’s logo on a black backdrop.

The first chapter begins with a cut-scene showing Noctis and his group departing on their journey. But the game doesn’t pick up the pace right away. Tabata says the first gameplay you experience in the first chapter is when you have to use Noctis to push the group’s broken down car. He says that he wanted to start things slow so that the player could fully grasp the scope of the world that they are about to explore. He added that it won’t be overbearing and that the scene will end quickly.

He couldn’t speak much about the story but he did say that it starts as a fun trip and starts to get more serious as the game continues and the group’s objectives become clear. Tabata added that the game combines naturalness with seriousness to create a human drama.

Many fans complained that “Final Fantasy XIII” was too linear and Tabata says this game will address that criticism. He says the world will open up at the end of chapter 1. He added that he feels the game will offer more freedom than any other Final Fantasy. You can check out the new gameplay footage in the video below.

“It will essentially be a full scale game for each part of the multi-part series […] if we’re just looking at each of these parts, one part should be on par with the scale of one Final Fantasy XIII game,” he said.

Keep in mind that each episode of the “Final Fantasy XIII” stories had at least 30 to 50 hours worth of story content. “Final Fantasy XIII” had three separate installments for the series, but Square Enix has yet to announce how many episodes they plan to release for the “Final Fantasy VII” remake. With that being said if the “Final Fantasy VII” remake is actually released in three different parts that are comparable in scope to “Final Fantasy XII,” fans could potentially be looking at somewhere between 90 to 150 hours of story.

He also went on to clarify that although the scale of the installments will be similar to that of “Final Fantasy XIII,” it will not follow the same structure as the trilogy that was released for that game.

“In XIII, each installment told the story from a different angle. It was kind of like approaching an unknown territory in a sense. Whereas with Final Fantasy VII Remake, we already have a preexisting story, so it wouldn’t really make sense if that isn’t encompassed in a multi-part series.” Kitase added.

Another announcement that has fans worried is the fact that Square Enix has openly announce that they will be making changes to the game. Kitase mentioned that not everything will change, but the team doesn’t feel like anything is untouchable.

“I, along with [Tetsuya] Nomura-san and [Kazushige] Nojima-san–who are involved with the remake–were also involved with the original Final Fantasy.” Kitase said. “We were the people who created it, so in that sense, we don’t think anything is untouchable. That isn’t to say we’re changing everything!”

As of this writing there is no official release date for the “Final Fantasy VII” remake. But it’s been speculated that the first installment will be released in 2017 to coincide with the game’s 20th anniversary.

First of all, the gameplay footage looks phenomenal. Square revealed lots of footage and concept art from the game and visually it is definitely the most impressive looking “Final Fantasy” game yet. The entire world is massive in scope and the worlds within the world are simply breathtaking.

There will be several different modes of transportation. Footage shown near the beginning of the event showed the chocobos in action and they look like they’re going to be a lot of fun. They can be called by whistle and they can also drift. The car is a one of a kind that was designed by Square and Audi. The car’s radio will play classic tracks from the older games throughout the series and it will also serve as an airship. At the very end of the presentation it was revealed that the car has wings and it can transform, allowing the driver to fly. When in airship mode the car looked similar to the Batmobile from the Adam West Batman series.

Elemental magic will impact the entire environment when used. For example ice spells will cause plants around you to be covered in ice and so on and so forth. Enemies are also smarter now and they can choose to run away from a battle if they decide it’s the right move.

It was announced that a new demo called “Platinum Demo: Final Fantasy: XV” is available now for both PS4 and Xbox One. The demo is separate from the final game and it will feature Noctis traveling through a dream world. The combat featured in the demo will be the final combat system that’s featured in the game. If you beat the demo you will obtain Carbuncle and he will be available as DLC in the final game. The only way to add him to the final game is to beat the demo.

Square announced that they are releasing a prequel series in the form of an anime. The anime series titled “Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV” will be a 5 part series which tells the story of how the 4 main characters came together and the first episode is available now and you can watch it below.

They’re also launching a full length movie called “Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV” which will be coming out later this year. The movie takes place while Noctis and his crew are away on their adventure in the main game and King Regis is left to defend his kingdom. It was revealed that Sean Bean voices King Regis, Lena Headey voices Noctis’ love interest Luna and Aaron Paul will be providing the voice for a new character named Nyx. The movie will be available for stream and download later this year.

The mini game this time around is called “Justice Monsters” and it looks like a sort of pinball meets “Galaga” mash up. The game will exist within “Final Fantasy XV” but it will also exist outside the game as well. “Justice Monsters V” will be available across several different platforms including iOS, Android, PC and more.

The demo will apparently feature a scenario where players battle through a dream world that has been created by the mind of Noctis. Players will earn themselves an exclusive Carbuncle summon upon completion of the demo. It was noted in the video that earning the summon in the demo is the only way that you will be able to use it in the final game. It was also mentioned that the demo is set to feature the final visuals and the final combat system for the game.

Square Enix will be livestreaming their “Uncovered” event tonight at 7 pm PT/ 10 pm ET where they will confirm the release date and likely explain more details about the demo.

It was noted that three different sources reached out and all of the sources are reliable, but that the release date should simply be treated as a rumor for now. One way or another the release date will be confirmed on March 30 when Square Enix holds their “Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV” event in Los Angeles. The event will air at 7pm PDT and Square will have a live stream available for people that can’t attend.

The event looks like it’s going to be a big one for Square and they’ve promised a few key surprises. They even invited Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach herself who happens to be a huge Final Fantasy fan.

“Final Fantasy XV” has been 10 years in the making for Square Enix. It was originally announced back in 2006 as a game called “Final Fantasy Versus XIII.” The game was to be part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis compilation. Tetsuya Namura revealed to Famitsu back in 2013 that the idea for transform the game was made only a year or two into development.

“Around one or two years after we announced FF Versus 13, it was suggested to us to shift to FF15 as part of the company’s direction. By that time, a fair amount of time had already passed since the announcement and Versus was a well-known title, so it wasn’t a given that this would be 15; it could have still been Versus. Personally, I came to accept the idea once FF Agito 13‘s name was changed to Final Fantasy Type-0.” Nomura said.

Fans of the Final Fantasy series have been disgruntled with the franchise for quite some time now. Many fans were underwhelmed by “Final Fantasy XII” and it was followed up by “Final Fantasy XIII” which is one of the most disliked entries in the series. But with “Final Fantasy XV” and the “Final Fantasy VII” remake on the way, Square has a chance to get back in the good graces of the fans.

Gameplay for “Final Fantasy XV” has been promising so far with the “Episode Duscae” demo being especially encouraging. It’s more action based than previous mainline titles, but it still manages to feel like Final Fantasy. Hopefully this will be the game that helps the franchise make a successful transition to current generation consoles.

It turns out that Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach is a big fan of Final Fantasy. She recently indulged her fandom via a conversation with the official Final Fantasy Twitter account. They reached out to Wurtzbach to invite her to the big “Final Fantasy XV” reveal event in March, which was pretty cool. But it’s her reply that really caught our attention.

As far as her favorite Final Fantasy game goes, she confirmed in a Reddit AMA that her favorite is “Final Fantasy VIII” which was also her first.

“I started with Final Fantasy VIII. Not a lot of people like VIII because they usually start with FF VII. But I started with VIII because I’m a girl and I fell for the love story. My favorite character…that’s a tough one… is Quistis. The one with the whip. I like her.”

It looks like Miss Universe could be making an appearance at the big reveal party for “Final Fantasy XV” in March but we’ll have to wait and see. One way or another fans of the franchise are awaiting the event with anticipation as the release date is finally set to be revealed. It’s been a long time coming because “Final Fantasy XV” has been in development for 10 years now.

Square Enix has promised that the game will be released in 2016 and it’s only a matter of time before we find out the exact release date. But if her recent Twitter conversation is any indication, Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach might just be finding out a little sooner than the rest of us.
