It was later revealed in the episode that Connor Hawke was the son of John Diggle, and that in the “Star City 2046” timeline, his father had been killed during an uprising in Star City which was led by Deathstroke.

At the time Connor Hawke’s appearance left fans with a lot of questions because John Diggle didn’t have a son when the episode aired, he had a daughter, but the events of “Flashpoint” have changed all that. John Diggle Jr. now exists in the current timeline and now everyone is wondering whether or not he will grow up to become Connor Hawke.

Executive producer Marc Guggenheim recently spoke to EW about whether or not John Diggle Jr. will end becoming Connor Hawke, and it seems that the idea is still being discussed.

“We go back and forth on that,” EP Marc Guggenheim noted. “That was certainly a notion of ours. It’s hard for me to honestly answer the question without committing to a version of time travel, because in order for that to be the case, then Flashpoint would’ve had to have happened. You start to get into the very, very complicated time travel rules that, quite frankly, I as a writer don’t have an appetite to answer unless we tell a story one day that deals with John Jr., and even then, I don’t know if we would directly address that issue head on. Anyone who watches Legends knows that, by design, we don’t spend a lot of time discussing temporal mechanics — some people like that and it annoys the hell out of other people.”

It was later revealed that this version of Connor Hawke is the son of John Diggle. In the episode Diggle was dead so we never got to find out how he felt about his son becoming a vigilante. But David Ramsey recently spoke to Zap2it and he told them that he thinks Diggle would be proud of Connor Hawke.

“In any capacity, whether his son decided to become an ADA like Laurel Lance and protect the innocent or a vigilante or a cop like Captain Lance — I think he’d be proud in any instance if he took on that mantle,” Ramsey explains. “Obviously taking on the mantle of Green Arrow is beyond Diggle’s wildest dreams. He’s just a proud father.”

Connor has yet to be born in the current “Arrow” timeline, but with time travel being so common in the Arrowverse nowadays, it’s always possible that Diggle could meet an older version of him at some point. Joseph David Jones who plays Connor has said in the past that the writers are trying to find a way to bring him back to DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow,” so never say never.

“Arrow” will return with “Canary Cry” on April 27.

According to Joseph David Jones, the actor who played Connor in “Star City 2046”, there’s a chance he could return. He recently spoke to Comicbook.com and revealed that the writers are working on a way to bring him back.

“I know that a couple of the writers are trying to push to get me back in there, because they really do like what happened with the episode. I know that they’re trying to put me back in there but I don’t know what they’re going to come up with or what even is going to happen with Connor Hawke, but I know they’ve been talking about potential different outcomes of it because they are planning on cycling out some of the cast from the ship. So I don’t know what’s going to happen, or if that timeline is still set until they actually do go back to the past.” Jones said.

As you probably noticed in the quote above, David also mentioned that the writers want to cycle out some of the cast. It was rumored months ago that the showrunners had plans to switch up the cast and the mission each season. John Constantine was also rumored as a character who could join the series next season.

The team came across Connor Hawke who had been posing as the Green Arrow. Sara Lance went after Connor after he was shot point blank by Deathstroke. Sara explained that the team was looking for a device that could help them repair the Waverider. Connor took them to Team Arrow’s lair which was rundown and falling apart. Oliver Queen then emerged from the shadows.

Oliver appeared with one arm and a goatee then revealed that Connor Hawke’s real name is John Diggle Jr. Connor Hawke’s father was none other than Oliver Queen’s best friend John Diggle. In the comics Oliver Queen is his father and his mother is Sandra “Moonday” Hawke. It wasn’t revealed who his mother is on the show.

The Diggle we know and love was killed in this possible future when Deathstroke led an uprising in Star City. When Sara asked about the rest of Team Arrow, Oliver also insinuated that they were dead.

As far as Oliver himself goes, he was in hiding after his left arm was cut off by Slade Wilson’s son, Grant Wilson. Eventually Wilson took Connor Hawke hostage and Sara Lance asked for Oliver’s help. At the end of the episode Oliver came out of hiding and used a prosthetic arm he had from S.T.A.R. Labs to take out Wilson once and for all.

When we last left Oliver he was in Team Arrow’s lair with Connor cleaning it up. It also looked like he was ready to become the Green Arrow again or at the very least, a full time mentor to Connor.
