Producer Wendy Mericle recently spoke to TV Line and she said that in order for Felicity and Curtis to co-exist, they need to serve different purposes. Next season Curtis will fill a role similar to what Cisco does for Team Flash as he’ll be working on new tech and hardware for Team Arrow.

“Essentially, if she’s software, he’s hardware,” Mericle told TV Line. “As he evolves into becoming Mr. Terrific in Season 5, one of the things we’re really exploring is differentiating them by having Curtis be more like Cisco on The Flash. We want him to be a bit more hands-on, a little more about building physical tech.”

It certainly sounds like Curtis could be just what Team Arrow needs. For the past two seasons the team has been receiving tech upgrades from Cisco here and there so it makes sense for them to have someone on the team that can fill that void.

“Arrow” returns for season 5 on Wednesday, October 5.

The debut episode of the series features Cisco trying to make some improvements to Barry’s suit. First he tries shooting a gun at it to make sure it’s bulletproof, only to realize that it’s not. Then he gets a little too close and realizes that the suit has some serious stank on it, specifically in the crotch area. He reminds himself that he has to keep working on some better anti-perspirant for the speedster.

Cisco ends up doing some work on the emblem of The Flash suit and that’s when things begin to get weird. He starts to think that he’s vibing Zoom’s helmet so he covers it up. But things get even weirder when Cisco falls asleep and wakes up to the sound of a meta-human alert warning him that a meta-human is in S.T.A.R. Labs.

BARRY IS READY TO FACE ZOOM; HUNTER ZOLOMAN’S STORY IS REVEALED – Equipped with the tachyon device, Barry (Grant Gustin) believes he is fast enough to stop Zoom (guest star Teddy Sears) and wants to open the breaches to catch him. Harry (Tom Cavanagh) strongly advises against that plan but after Barry convinces him, Harry reveals that Cisco (Carlos Valdes) has the power to re-open the breach. Meanwhile, Hunter Zoloman’s (Teddy Sears) painful story on Earth-2 is revealed.

It’s unknown how Cisco will fit into the episode but anything is possible with time travel. A few months ago Carlos Valdes referred to the version of Cisco that appears on the show as an “interesting take on the character.” We’ll just have to figure out what that means tomorrow.
