]]> Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher unfortunately passed away today at the age of 60, and the world is mourning her death. Carrie Fisher became an icon thanks to her role as Princess Leia, and Star Wars creator George Lucas issued the following statement in response to her passing:

“Carrie and I have been friends most of our adult lives. She was extremely smart; a talented actress, writer and comedienne with a very colorful personality that everyone loved,” via THR. “In Star Wars she was our great and powerful princess – feisty, wise and full of hope in a role that was more difficult than most people might think. My heart and prayers are with Billie, Debbie and all Carrie’s family, friends and fans. She will be missed by all.”

Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford brought the charismatic couple of Han Solo and Princess Leia to life, and Fisher recently revealed in her book that she had an off screen affair with Ford as well.

Harrison Ford offered his condolences in a statement, and he said that she will be missed.

“Carrie was one-of-a-kind…brilliant, original. Funny and emotionally fearless. She lived her life, bravely…My thoughts are with her daughter Billie, her Mother Debbie, her brother Todd, and her many friends. We will all miss her.”

]]> Beloved Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher suffered a heart attack on Friday while flying from London to LAX, and she was unfortunately pronounced dead this morning.

According to the statement issued by family spokesman Simon Halls on behalf of Carrie Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, Carrie passed away at 8:55am at the age of 60. The statement reads as follows:

“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly.”

Carrie Fisher is best known for her work as Princess Leia, and she recently returned to a galaxy far, far away for “The Force Awakens” and “Episode VIII” which has yet to be released. The Star Wars cast is reacting to the news, and Mark Hamill simply noted that he is devastated.

Carrie Fisher is well known for her acting work, but she also has some interesting writing credits to her name, and she recently released a book called “The Princess Diarist” where she opened up about her romantic relationship with Harrison Ford.

]]> When the original Star Wars trilogy wrapped up with “Return of the Jedi”Han Solo and Princess Leia looked like they were going to live happily ever after. But when “The Force Awakens” was released last year it was revealed that Han and Leia had become estranged.

In between “Jedi” and “Force” Han and Leia had a son, named Ben, who later defected to the Dark Side and became Kylo Ren. Surely Ben’s transformation put a strain on the relationship, but we never really got a clear answer as to why Han and Leia split up.

Last weekend Carrie Fisher spoke about Han and Leia’s relationship at the The Saskatoon Comic & Entertainer Expo, and Fisher shared her take on why things didn’t work out.

“He smuggled way too much. And girls, I know you don’t want your husband smuggling, do you? [And] hanging out with the hairy guy too often. I think there are a lot of problems with that. He wouldn’t take me on that hyperspace thing enough… [that’s a] euphemism.”

Carrie Fisher is one of a kind, that’s for sure, and you can see her on the big screen once again when “Episode VIII” hits theaters in December of 2017.
