Variety is reporting that Greg Berlanti’s “Black Lightning” series, which was originally being developed for FOX, is moving to the CW. FOX reportedly passed on the series and the CW has ordered a pilot.

The CW lineup is stacked right now as “Supergirl” airs on Mondays, with “The Flash” and DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow” on Tuesdays and “Arrow” rounds out the lineup on Wednesday nights. According to the report, if the series does get picked up for the 2017-2018 season, it will air during a different time of the year so that the CW’s superhero schedule doesn’t get too cluttered.

Mara Brock Akil and husband Salim Akil wrote the pilot and the synopsis for the series reads as follows:

“Jefferson Pierce made his choice: he hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend — Black Lightning.”
