“Arrow” recently wrapped up its 5th season, and most fans seem to agree that it was one of the best. Over the course of the last five years, Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen has become quite popular, but fans of the comics know that there are some big differences between the Oliver Queen that appears on “Arrow” and the Oliver Queen that appears in the comics.
For years fans have been begging for Stephen Amell to grow a goatee, and although that probably won’t happen anytime soon, Amell is hoping that Oliver will become more like his comic book counterpart in season 6. During a recent Q&A panel at Portland Heroes and Villains Fan Fest, Amell talked about how he hopes that Oliver will become more socially conscious and perhaps a little more humorous as well (via CinemaBlend).
“I’ve said that it’s very, very important that if Oliver doesn’t take away lessons from Season 5 and doesn’t keep doing the things that have led to this catastrophic event, the character stops being interesting to me. So I hope that part of that, in Season 6 and if we have seasons beyond that, I hope that part of that is we get back to a lot of the tenets that people recognize from the comics. And that of course is humor and a socially conscious, slightly liberal superhero. The comics version, he has some really interesting qualities that make him unique, and I hope we get to explore more of those.”

“Arrow” will return for season 6 in October.
After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the North China Sea. He returned home to Star City, bent on righting the wrongs done by his family and fighting injustice.
As the Green Arrow, he protects his city with the help of former soldier John Diggle (David Ramsey), computer-science expert Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), his vigilante-trained sister Thea Queen (Willa Holland), Deputy Mayor Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne), brilliant inventor Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum), and his new recruits, street-savvy Rene Ramirez (Rick Gonzalez) and meta-human Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy).
Oliver has finally solidified and strengthened his crime-fighting team only to have it threatened when unexpected enemies from his past return to Star City, forcing Oliver to rethink his relationship with each member of his “family”.
