“Arrow” has come a long way over the course of 7 seasons, and as time goes on the writers have been trying new things to keep the show fresh.

For the first five seasons, the show relied heavily on flashbacks to tell the story of Oliver’s time away from Star City, but the flashbacks weren’t nearly as prevalent in season 6, and when we did see flashbacks they were mostly focused on other characters who weren’t Oliver.

“Arrow” will be taking on a new showrunner when season 7 rolls around, and during a recent chat with Cinema Blend, Stephen Amell teased that the show will also be trying new things.

“I think that it’s going to be…we can’t go bigger than we went last year, so we’re going more specific. . . . We are gonna introduce a new storytelling technique that I’m really excited about. All that I can say.”

What exactly that means is tough to say, but it’s an interesting teaser nonetheless.

Either way, with Oliver in jail and Diaz on the loose, the “Arrow” writers have their work cut out for them.

“Arrow” will return for season 7 in the fall.
