Spider-Man To Appear In Captain America: Civil War, Andrew Garfield Reportedly Out

Marvel and Sony gave everyone what they wanted last night when they announced that they would now be sharing Spider-Man. This means Spider-Man will indeed be appearing in the MCU. Marvel also confirmed that Spider-Man will have his own movie released on July 28, 2017 but before that he would be appearing in another Marvel film. The company didn’t say which one but The Wall Street Journal is reporting that it will be Captain America: Civil War.

“The two companies said late Monday that Spider-Man will appear in an upcoming Disney-produced Marvel super-heroes movie; that movie is 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War,” according to a person with knowledge of the matter.”

Their report also goes on to mention that the Sinister Six film which was planned for 2016 has now been delayed indefinitely.

On the casting front, The Wrap is reporting that Andrew Garfield is out and will not be reprising his role as Spider-Man. Neither Sony or Marvel has made an official statement yet regarding casting of Spider-Man but rumors suggest they want to start back at start with a high school aged Spider-Man and feel Garfield is too old.

If this is indeed true and Andrew Garfield is out (which seems likely) expect a casting announcement sooner than later. Marvel will begin principal shooting for Captain America: Civil War in April and if Spider-Man is set to appear in the film they will need to cast the role before shooting begins.
