Last week “Arrow” returned with the season 6 premiere, and the episode ended with a huge cliffhanger. At the end of the episode, Felicity Smoak told Oliver Queen to turn on the news, and when he did it showed a photo of the Green Arrow unmasked.
Oliver Queen spent most of this week’s episode trying to convince people he wasn’t the Green Arrow, and he also faced off against his former friend Anatoly. When Oliver accused Anatoly of leaking the photo to the news, he said that he’s an honorable man, and it wasn’t him. So, the identity of the person who leaked the photo remains a mystery.
Oliver also spent some time attempting to be a father. After his son William got into a fight at school, Oliver decided that his son needs him, and he doesn’t want him to become an orphan. He told William that he had a plan that would allow him to be around more, but he didn’t reveal the plan to his son.
The show then flashed to a scene in the bunker where Oliver Queen met with Diggle and he asked Diggle to become the Green Arrow so that he could spend more time with his son.
Diggle shook Oliver’s hand and agreed.
The only problem is that Diggle also admitted to Dinah in this week’s episode that he took some shrapnel during the explosion on Lian Yu, and it caused nerve damage, which is why he hasn’t been using his gun in the field.
So far Dinah and Diggle are the only people that know about Diggle’s issues. He said that he would bring it up to Oliver, but that was before Oliver made the offer for Diggle to take on the Green Arrow mantle.
The preview for next week’s episode shows Diggle in the full Green Arrow costume, so it should be interesting to see how well he fares, as his time as the Green Arrow will obviously be temporary.
