“Supergirl” will be returning for season 3 in a few weeks, and the first trailer for the new season showed what appears to be a darker tone. Kara didn’t seem too happy with her life, and it looks like she’ll be making some changes.
One of the things she will apparently be changing is her attire, as Melissa Benoist teased that she’ll be ditching the Supergirl suit temporarily.
“There is a different suit that I will be wearing at some point this season, but I won’t tell you when or to what capacity,” Melissa Benoist told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s cool, though.”
In season 2 it was revealed that another pod escaped Krypton, and the pod contained the big bad of season 3, Reign. The character will be played by Odette Annable and fans will see her in the season premiere. However, the interesting thing about Reign is that she has no idea who, or what she is.
“When we meet Reign, she’s just a woman,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg tells EW. “Her name is Samantha and she’s a single mom, and she has no idea that she is Reign; she has no idea that she was the baby in the pod at the end of last season, so the journey that she takes this season is watching her realize her heritage and see how it manifests.”
“Supergirl” will return for season 3 on Monday, October 9.
SUPERGIRL is an action-adventure drama based on the DC character Kara Zor-El, (Melissa Benoist) Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Also in Kara’s life are media mogul Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart), James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), a photo journalist who moonlights as Guardian, a masked vigilante, Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath), and Mon-El of Daxam (Chris Wood), whose planet was ravaged by Krypton’s destruction. As Kara struggles to navigate her relationships and her burgeoning life as a reporter, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime.
