Fans patiently waited for a season renewal announcement for Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and when it finally came it was a mix of good and bad news. The good news was that ABC and Marvel confirmed the show did get picked up for a new season, but it was also announced that fans would have to wait until January of 2018 for the new season to premiere.
However, ABC and Marvel seemed to have changed their plans as the series is now set to return after “Inhumans” ends its run on on the network. ABC Chief Channing Dungey confirmed that the season 5 premiere has been pushed up while talking to Entertainment Weekly at the Television Critics Association press tour.
“It’s going to come on right after Inhumans,” Dungey said at the Television Critics Association’s press tour Sunday. “As soon as the eight episodes of Inhumans is done, then S.H.I.E.L.D. will begin.”
“Inhumans” is set to premiere on ABC on September 22.
