“Arrow” season 6 will be premiering in October, and it’s already been confirmed that Slade Wilson and Dinah Drake survived the big explosion on Lian Yu that fans saw in the season 5 finale. Slade and Dinah were confirmed to be alive in the first trailer for season 6, and the trailer features an interesting scene where Felicity turns to Slade for help, and he walks away from the rest of Team Arrow.
Apparently the writers originally had different plans for this scene, but Manu Bennett interjected with a few suggestions of his own in an effort to stay true to his interpretation of who Slade Wilson is. During a recent interview with MYM Buzz, Bennett revealed that he suggested to executive producer Marc Guggenheim that Deathstroke should distance himself from Team Arrow, and Guggenheim agreed.
“In the first episode, which I can’t really talk about can I? But there was this moment where I’m meant to be with the rest of them, and this scene was written that the group, and Slade/Deathstroke run off together. And I said to Marc Guggenheim I said, ‘Is this gonna be a musical?’ I asked him, I said ‘It sorta doesn’t feel right, does it?’ Marc agreed with me, and so there’s a very specific scene, and I say, ‘You guys will never get off this island in time,’ or something like that. ‘I’ll take my own chances,’ and I walk off.”
In regards to why Manu Bennett felt the change was necessary, he went on to explain that he wants to preserve the relationship between Slade and Oliver.
“I’m kinda just wanting to preserve the strength of the relationship between Slade and Oliver, just on that level, because it’s such a standalone relationship, but I just don’t want to get caught up in the group and be like, ‘Hey, high five!'”
Given that the first trailer for “Arrow” season 6 shows Slade and Dinah Drake alive, but still leaves questions in regards to who else survived, it should be interesting to see how Slade’s lack of assistance impacted the other members of Team Arrow during the explosion.

“Arrow” will return on Thursday, October 12.
After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the North China Sea. He returned home to Star City, bent on righting the wrongs done by his family and fighting injustice.
As the Green Arrow, he protects his city with the help of former soldier John Diggle (David Ramsey), computer-science expert Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), his vigilante-trained sister Thea Queen (Willa Holland), Deputy Mayor Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne), brilliant inventor Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum), and his new recruits, street-savvy Rene Ramirez (Rick Gonzalez) and meta-human Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy).
Oliver has finally solidified and strengthened his crime-fighting team only to have it threatened when unexpected enemies from his past return to Star City, forcing Oliver to rethink his relationship with each member of his “family”.
