Grant Gustin recently returned to “The Flash” set a few weeks ago, and he had plenty to say about Barry’s future at Comic Con last weekend. When “The Flash” returns for season 4 in the fall, Barry Allen will still be trapped in the Speed Force, and according to Grant Gustin, his time inside his Speed Force prison will change him.

It truly seems that we will not be seeing the same Barry Allen we once knew in season 4, so fans should prepare for some changes. One change that could be taking place this season has something to do with The Flash’s suit, as it looks like he may be getting a bit of an upgrade.

Grant Gustin recently shared a new photo from the set, and people couldn’t help but notice that the boots he’s wearing are looking a little more gold than what fans are used to seeing. In the season 3 episode titled “The Once And Future Flash” Barry Allen travelled to 2024 and he met the future version of himself. At one point they teamed up and fans got their first look at the upgraded Flash suit, which included more gold throughout the costume.

As seen in the photo below, the suit that Barry wore throughout season 3 didn’t include gold at the top of the boots.

Of course Grant Gustin has said that time is non-linear in the Speed Force, so it’s possible that Barry wears the suit at some point during his imprisonment.

Hopefully this is more than just a tease, as most fans would agree that Barry Allen is long overdue for a new suit, and Grant Gustin has said in the past that he thinks it’s time for an upgrade. Perhaps it will finally happen in season 4.

“The Flash” season 4 will premiere on Tuesday, October 10.

Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) lived a normal life as a perpetually tardy C.S.I. in the Central City Police Department. Barry’s life changed forever when the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator exploded, creating a dark-matter lightning storm that struck Barry, bestowing him with super-speed and making him the fastest man alive — The Flash. But when Barry used his extraordinary abilities to travel back in time and save his mother’s life, he inadvertently created an alternate timeline known as Flashpoint; a phenomenon that gave birth to the villainous speed god known as Savitar, and changed the lives of Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and Wally West (Keiyan Lonsdale) forever.

With the help of his adoptive father, Joe West (Jesse L. Martin), his lifelong best friend and love interest Iris West (Candice Patton), and his friends at S.T.A.R. Labs — Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), C.S.I Julian Albert (Tom Felton), and an Earth-19 novelist named H.R. Wells (Tom Cavanaugh) — Barry continues to protect the people of Central City from the meta-humans that threaten it.

Based on the characters from DC, THE FLASH is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros.
