If you’ve been keeping up with “Game of Thrones” season 7 then you know that it’s been absolutely crazy so far. Each and every episode has raised the stakes in a massive way, and after Jaime Lannister survived the wrath of Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons during the Loot Train battle, he returned to King’s Landing to learn some surprising news.
Jaime dropped the truth on Cersei when he told her that she’s probably going to lose the war, because well dragons. But then Cersei dropped a massive bomb on Jaime when she revealed that she’s pregnant and he’s the father. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau recently spoke to TVLine about Jaime’s reaction, and he indicated that he has mixed feelings about the reveal.
“When she gives him this news, for a second, he can’t help but feel that moment of [1:05] because it’s clearly been something he’s wanted his whole life. And now, for a second, it’s like this could happen. Obviously, he forgets about everything that’s around. [Laughs] How crazy this world is. I think he has a moment of feeling joyful. And then, of course, they hug and she breaks the spell by saying [Lowers voice], “Don’t ever betray me again.” I have a question that I would like to put out there: How did he betray her? Because I still haven’t understood that. I still don’t get it. I know we did the scene. I still don’t know how he betrayed her. Can you answer me that question?”
For 7 seasons now Jaime has stood by Cersei’s side and supported her, but as the series is gearing up for the home stretch, their relationship is clearly crumbling, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau hinted that it’s only going to get worse.
“That was his first question of the season. She asks him, “Are you afraid of me?” “Should I be?” That’s his answer. “Should I be?” Maybe he should. [Laughs] So I guess we’ll have to see if he should be afraid of her. I don’t want to get into any spoilers, so it’s not a yes and it’s not a no. It’s like, I don’t know. [Laughs] I think most people should be afraid of her. She seems to be capable of quite extreme acts of losing her cool and then blowing s–t up. [Laughs] Just don’t get on the wrong side of her.”
You can catch the next episode of “Game of Thrones” season 7 Sunday night on HBO.
