The first standalone Flash movie has had a tough time getting off the ground so far. The film still doesn’t have a director, and it appears that DC and Warner Bros. are now going in a very different direction for the Scarlet Speedster’s first big screen adventure as it was announced at San Diego International Comic Con that the first Flash movie will be titled “Flashpoint.”
“Flashpoint” tells the story of how Barry Allen travels back in time to prevent Reverse Flash from killing his mother, which in turn creates an alternate timeline where he doesn’t become The Flash, Bruce Wayne is dead, Thomas Wayne is Batman, Martha Wayne is the Joker, Superman is imprisoned by the government, and Wonder Woman and Aquaman are at war.
So far no official details about the film have been announced in regards to which characters will be appearing in the cinematic adaptation of “Flashpoint” but Forbes is reporting that Gal Gadot is expected to reprise her role as Wonder Woman in the film.
“Flashpoint” is reportedly set to be released in 2020, and although no director has been announced, it’s been rumored for months that Robert Zemeckis is the current frontrunner.
Fans are hoping that since the “Flashpoint” film is set in the DCEU, other characters such as Aquaman, Superman, Cyborg will appear in the movie, however it’s unclear how much of the original story will be adapted.
If Thomas Wayne and the Martha Wayne Joker are used, it would make sense for DC and Warner Bros. to use Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan in the roles since they were established as Bruce Wayne’s parents in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” Still though nothing has been confirmed on that front, but Jeffrey Dean Morgan did make it known that he’s well aware of the film.
You can catch The Flash and Wonder Woman in “Justice League” on November 17, 2017.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s (Henry Cavill) selfless act, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) enlists newfound ally Diana Prince to face an even greater threat. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly awakened enemy. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes — Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash — it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
