Next week the DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow” season 3 finale is set to air on the CW, but fans are still trying to wrap their heads around what they saw in this week’s episode.
The Legends met up with a young Barack Obama, and they had to save him from the one and only Gorilla Grodd. After Obama was rescued, Sara Lance went back to his dorm to ask him for a little advice, but that scene almost didn’t make the cut due to time issues and budget restrictions. However, executive producer Phil Klemmer told TV Line that he’s happy it made it into the episode.
“There’s a certain point where you realize, ‘This scene doesn’t need to be in the show. This is totally gratuitous, us sending a little ‘love letter’ to the ex-president,’” Klemmer said. “But when I rewatched the episode last night, I was like, ‘Thank God we did keep in that totally superfluous love letter to the ex-president. And thank God we found a performer in Vancouver (Lovell Adams-Gray) who played such a convincing Young Barack Obama!”
It’s certainly not uncommon for historical figures to appear on “Legends of Tomorrow” and Klemmer also teased that fans might see a young Donald Trump in season 4.
“Um… I think you just guaranteed it,” Klemmer answered, chuckling. “I’d love to see a mid-’80s Trump. It’d be a blast.”
The “Legends of Tomorrow” season 3 finale “The Good, The Bad and The Cuddly” will air on the CW on Monday.
“SEASON FINALE – The Legends plan to vanquish Mallus by using the totems doesn’t go as planned, forcing Rip (guest star Arthur Darvill) to improvise. The team finds itself regrouping in the Wild West where they run into their old pal Jonah Hex (guest star Johnathon Schaech). Sara (Caity Lotz) leaves Ray (Brandon Routh) in charge of watching Damien Darhk (Neal McDonaugh), while she comes up with a new plan. Meanwhile, Amaya (Maisie Richarson-Sellers) is determined to find a way to use the totems to destroy Mallus. Dominic Purcell, Tala Ashe, Keiynan Lonsdale, Nick Zano and Franz Drameh also star.
