Oliver Queen has stepped away from Team Arrow so he can focus on being a father and the mayor of Star City. The Green Arrow mantle has officially been passed on to Diggle, and now he’s the man in charge. But Diggle won’t be in charge forever, and sooner or later Oliver will have to put the suit back on.
David Ramsey recently spoke to EW about taking on the Green Arrow mantle, and while he admitted that it won’t last forever, he noted that he will be wearing the suit for at least a few episodes.
“No. No, it’s Green Arrow. Stephen Amell is Green Arrow. It’s not going to last. Of course not, but I think it’s very interesting and it’s an interesting twist on how it fits into the ultimate theme of the season, I think it’s very clever. I think it’s an interesting detour. It also gives us some time with Oliver. I think it’s great, and he has some great writing. Stuff is happening between him and Deathstroke, and he and his son and he and Felicity. It’s awesome. I think holding it for the few episodes I have the mantle, that’s the appropriate amount of time.”
Even though Oliver won’t be wearing the Green Arrow suit for a little while, that doesn’t mean he’ll be sitting on the sidelines completely.
As Ramsey alluded to in the quote above, Oliver and Slade Wilson will be going on a mission to rescue Slade’s son in a two-part Deathstroke-centric episode that’s set to air in a few weeks.
“Arrow” will return next week with “Reversal.”
