Fans are going to be seeing a lot more of Katie Cassidy in “Arrow” season 6, as it’s already been confirmed that she’ll be a series regular, and she’ll be reprising her role as Black Siren.

So far the show hasn’t revealed much about Black Siren, other than she’s evil, but fans don’t know why she acts the way she does. During a recent interview with Comicbook.com at San Diego International Comic Con, Katie Cassidy revealed that we will learn more about the characters backstory, including her relationship with Earth-2 Oliver Queen.

“Yes, I think the more we learn about her backstory and what her relationship was like with Oliver, absolutely. I think it will make sense in the end and not necessarily make her as bad of a person. You might be like ‘Oh, okay that makes sense.’ Yes, I do think we’ll know more.”

Of course it’s already been established that on Earth-2 it was Oliver who died in the boating accident, and his father Robert Queen became the Green Arrow. So, any Earth-2 Oliver Queen related stories will have to be told through flashbacks, unless they bring him back from the dead somehow.

Perhaps it’s Oliver’s death that caused Black Siren to turn to the dark side. However, Katie Cassidy does believe that Black Siren can find redemption.

“Yes, I do think there’s a chance at redemption for her. I think there will be people who understand when she has the opportunity and once we learn what she’s gone through, why she is the way that she is. I think people will be able to relate to it, have sympathy for her. I think there’s a chance at really helping her get back to who she is at her core, and potentially not be so crazy, and have a good side to her, but I think as time goes on we’ll learn that.”

“Arrow” will return on Thursday, October 12.

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the North China Sea. He returned home to Star City, bent on righting the wrongs done by his family and fighting injustice.

As the Green Arrow, he protects his city with the help of former soldier John Diggle (David Ramsey), computer-science expert Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), his vigilante-trained sister Thea Queen (Willa Holland), Deputy Mayor Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne), brilliant inventor Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum), and his new recruits, street-savvy Rene Ramirez (Rick Gonzalez) and meta-human Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy).

Oliver has finally solidified and strengthened his crime-fighting team only to have it threatened when unexpected enemies from his past return to Star City, forcing Oliver to rethink his relationship with each member of his “family”.
