“Arrow” is set to return for season 5 in a few weeks, and the cast and crew have been hyping up the new season, saying that the show will get back to doing what it does best.
The new season will focus on legacy, and that is the overlying theme for season 5 according to producer Marc Guggenheim.
“Essentially the theme that we’re dealing with this year is legacy,” executive producer Marc Guggenheim told EW. “The idea [is] Oliver honoring Black Canary’s [Katie Cassidy] legacy after Laurel’s death last year. As the season progresses, you’ll see that there are a lot of callbacks to season 1. What we’re doing is we’re dramatizing Oliver’s desire to grow, move forward, and evolve, but this concept of legacy keeps threatening to pull him back to the early days.”
“Arrow” was a very different show during season 1. Oliver was still developing his skills and he had no problem with killing. So, it should be interesting to see exactly what those call backs are.
The new season will feature Prometheus as the big bad and when asked who’s under the mask, Guggenheim reiterated that Prometheus is a villain Oliver is responsible for creating.
“Arrow” season 5 will premiere on Wednesday, October 5.
