The Russo Brothers knocked it out of the park with “Captain America: Civil War.” The film was a hit with both fans and critics alike. Many people consider it to be the best film in the MCU so far. Although the movie did have some humor, it was a little more serious than most Marvel films. The Russo Brothers recently revealed at a special IMAX screening of “The Winter Soldier” that “Captain America: Civil War” will be funnier in some portions.
“There’s a good portion of [Civil War] that’s actually funnier than Winter Soldier, because there are characters in that film, that come from worlds where the tone is more comedic. Not all the characters in that movie have the same history as the Avengers. They’re coming at the problem of the film, not embedded with that baggage. They’re not tied to the central arc of the movie with the same motivation as the other characters, so they can be lighter. I think there are a lot lighter moments because there are much darker moments as well. We did have to work very hard at that.” they said.
It seems to make a lot of sense. Judging from the first trailer, the emotional weight of the story seems to take its toll on the central characters. In that regard it will be nice to see characters outside the conflict bring in a bit of a lighter tone.
Either way, anticipation is at an all time high for the release of “Captain America: Civil War” which is set to hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
