Next week “Justice League” will finally be released, and fans will finally be seeing some solid footage of Ezra Miller’s Flash in action. The Flash has made brief cameos in other DCEU films, but this will be the first time that he’s actually able to step into the spotlight.
The Flash has yet to get his own solo film, and after the planned film encountered several setbacks, Warner Bros. and DC decided to change course. Over the summer at San Diego Comic Con, it was announced that The Flash standalone film will now be called “Flashpoint.”
The “Flashpoint” story is a pretty big deal for DC fans, as it follows Barry Allen after he alters the timeline when he goes back in time to save his mother from being killed by the Reverse Flash.
In the “Flashpoint” universe things are very different, and instead of Bruce Wayne putting on the cape and cowl, it’s Thomas Wayne who becomes Batman.
Thomas Wayne is already established in the DCEU, as he was played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and even though he hasn’t been confirmed for “Flashpoint” it would seem to be make sense that he would fill the role.
As fans wait for an official announcement from DC regarding casting, Ezra Miller has made it clear that he hopes to see Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the film.
“Oh, hell yeah. I think he’s amazing,” Ezra Miller told Comicbook.com. “And I think he would fall right into what is becoming a very, very serious ensemble of actors. I’m so excited about Kiersey Clemons. I’m so excited about Billy Crudup. I just couldn’t be more stoked about the names involved so far.”
Furthermore, Miller also expressed excitement for the “Flashpoint” film and the different take it provides on the DC universe.
“I think that the emotional arc of the Thomas Wayne stuff in Flashpoint is one of the illest [parts]. And to see that different manifestation of Batman and his whole different style. And I love the reality that you have this universe that is so inverted from the one that we know. And this one factor remains the same, but in this flipped way. Batman is steady, but it’s going to be the result of a different side of the same tragedy with Thomas Wayne instead of Bruce, and that’s dope.”
“Flashpoint” doesn’t currently have a release date, but you can see Ezra Miller’s Flash in action when “Justice League” hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
