“Arrow” wrapped up its fifth season in May, and the show will be returning for season six in October. “Arrow” was originally pitched as a five season story arc, and now that the show is done with the island flashbacks, a whole new world of possibilities has opened up for the writers.
Fans who enjoy the show don’t want to see it end anytime soon and executive producer Marc Guggenheim doesn’t want to see it end either. Guggenheim was recently asked if he thinks the show will go as long as “Supernatural” during an interview with Collider, and he seems hopeful that there’s still more story to tell (via Heroic Hollywood).
“I think it’s too far in the horizon, but I will say this. Like, it’s funny I will say it like I think Stephen [Amell] said publicly, what’s the point of doing the first five if you’re not going to do the second five?”
It’s no big secret that the ratings for “Arrow” dropped after season 4 was panned by fans and critics alike, but many people feel that season 5 was arguably the best season so far. But the show does still have a solid core fanbase, and it seems to be finding new fans on streaming platforms as the streaming numbers for “Arrow” have gone up.
“I think for us like, the questions I look at, like Vampire Diaries ending around season eight or something like, I don’t know what sort of numbers have to do in order to quote unquote stay on the air through season ten, you know. It’s also, by the way, it’s like, it’s not just about the numbers anymore that you do, like Nielsen’s. It’s about numbers you do streaming-wise.”
“Arrow” will return on Thursday, October 12.
