For the past three seasons on “The Flash” Barry Allen has faced off against another speedster. He managed to get the best of Reverse Flash, Zoom and Savitar, and in season 4 the show will be switching things up by taking the evil speedsters out of the equation.

In season 4, Barry Allen and Team Flash will be taking on Clifford DeVoe, aka The Thinker, and even before The Thinker was confirmed, the showrunners announced that a speedster would not be the main villain when the show returns in the fall.
Watching Barry face other speedsters has been fun, but some fans do feel as if it was overdone. But it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing many speedster battles going forward, as it was announced at the Television Critics Association press tour that the show is likely done with speedster villains (via ScreenRant).

Wells (Tom Cavanaugh) — Barry continues to protect the people of Central City from the meta-humans that threaten it.
