It was recently revealed that director Tim Miller had departed “Deadpool 2” due to creative differences. Miller and Ryan Reynolds obviously made a great team the first time around, but for the sequel a new face will be sitting in the director’s chair.
There’s been a lot of talk about who will be filling the role, and some fans have even started a petition in an attempt to get Quentin Tarantino involved.
Now Mashable is reporting that “John Wick” director David Leitch is the frontrunner for the job. The report notes that Reynolds’ agency, WME, is hoping for Reynolds to choose a director who is one of their clients, and Leitch is the top name right now, although several names are being considered.
When it comes to David Leitch’s stunt work, his resume is extensive. He was the action coordinator for “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and he’s also worked on films such as “Blade,” “Fight Club” and more.
Leitch was heavily praised for his work on “John Wick” which was his directorial debut. He will be working as an executive producer on the sequel.
Fans are anxiously awaiting the arrival of “Deadpool 2” which is expected to be released sometime in 2018. The sequel will feature Cable, and fans are also anxiously awaiting a casting announcement as far as the role is concerned.
When news of Tim Miller’s departure hit the internet, it was reported that the Cable casting was one of the things that Miller and Reynolds couldn’t agree on. It should be interesting to see who ends up playing the role when all is said and done.
